A well as being our family pet, Alfred 'works' in our school Nuture unit called the Acorn Room. Many of the children lack confidence in themselves and trust in others. Alfred helps them to build both. He is a gentle giant, so laid back he is practically horizontal! Not only does he do a super job with the children he has also become a valued 'stress buster' for the staff (although he has stolen staff treats from the staffroom on several occasions including 14 all butter croissants!).
We think he may the first dog to get a mention in an OFSTED report.
Alf' loves to join in the fun at work and will often drag his bed over to where the children are sitting especially for circle time.
All the children in Acorn have special targets, Alfred is also set a target by the children although the lastest one is presenting a bit of a challenge "I will only eat my own food"!!!!!! The children are not hopeful that he will reach this target quickly.
