Trip to the vets - 21 October 2009

After being ill on George's birthday:

It was George's birthday on 17 October. It didn't start off too well for me. I was sick several times in the night. Mum had to get up and clean it up. She said it was 3.45am and took took me into bed and cuddled me because I was groaning with tummy ache. I soon fell to sleep with mum to soothe the pain but she didn't! She said she felt dreadful all day but said I couldn't help being ill, although she said I shouldn't go on adventures into neighbours gardens as I had probably picked something up that made me poorly. I'm not telling her what.

I was poorly again. Monday night I kept trying to get into bed with mum and dad but they weren't very pleased. The night before the power cut had kept them awake and they were very tired.

Tuesday night I started feeling very restless and agitated and very itchy! Mum checked me over and said I had lumps on my side above my leg groin. I couldn't get comfortable and kept running round trying to relieve the irritation. I kept mum and dad awake all night again. I didn't mean to. Mum didn't know what to do to help and was very restless too. Next morning mum checked me again and said the lumps had gone. I felt much better but very tired and still not myself. Mum could hardly keep her eyes open and dad said he hadn't had any sleep either. We all looked a bit...

When mum came back home she was still worried about me because I hadn't got the energy to fuss her. She took us for our walk and was still concerned so walked in the direction of the vets. and asked if we could see the vet that night. She was still concerned beause we were calm and well behaved with all the dogs in the waiting room. We can't win! We were only trying to be good!

The vet checked me over and took my temperature and checked my anal glands. Don't like that... not nice. She said the sickness and itchyness were probably not connected and thought it was an alergy and gave mum some anti histamines for me to take. Think mum was as relieved as me. And guess what we ALL had a good sleep that night.

Things I love: Food glorious food. Treats. Walkies. Mummy, daddy and George (when he's not too rough). Cuddles and attention, lots of attention. Having my chest tickled, it makes me laugh and rub my eyes :-) Travelling in the car (there's usually a walk involved) Snuggling up with mum and dad in bed at the weekend. Licking the remains of George's food out of his beard. (See my poem 'Love and hate' further down)

Things I hate: Being bullied. Nasty dogs. The stray dogs round the pond. Rain. Bath time. (See my poem 'Love and hate' further down)

My favourite walks: Yes I love walks, the longer the better. Then when I go home, have a nap, I'm ready for another. Running in the fields, in the woods, anywhere I can run with the wind in my beard. The seaside and the beach, there's so many interesting smells. (avoid the rock pools though!)

Other pets who share my home: George, Black Miniature Schnauzer.

My favourite saying: Biscuit. Walkies. Dinner.

Breed: Miniature Schnauzer
