George's diary - Winter 2009

Mums holiday – 21 to 25 September 2009

Mum was on holiday for a week in September, we were all looking forward to spending time together. We had longer walks every morning and afternoon and spent much of the time in the garden giving mum a hand. I was good most of the time but mum did tell me off for chasing and barking at the postman. He tried to hit me with his postbag. Max started it… he ran up first to sniff. I thought it would be funny to make him jump but mum said I could have been in trouble if he reported us. I only wanted to play! Why don’t they understand? I only want to be friends.

Mum was very angry with me at the end of the holiday and I knew it. I was having so much fun chasing squirrels with Max, I forgot all about her and couldn’t hear her shouting. When we caught sight of each other I knew I was in deep trouble and hid for a few more minutes. I knew it was a good idea to walk at heel and keep my head down. Max took delight in showing off to mum… mummy’s boy!

Saturday 3 to Monday 5 October 2009

We had a great weekend. We were well behaved all the time. Behaved ourselves on our walks, met several of our friends and had some great romps. The only down side was when mum groomed us. She cut the side of my eye with the scissors and Max’s too. She was so apologetic though. I know she didn’t mean to.

Saturday afternoon mum walked us to meet dad at the football ground. She was worried that we were going to be late but got there as they announced 5 minutes extra time. We sat wagging our tails watching everyone who came out early, just in case it was dad. Then there was an almighty cheer from the crowd. I joined in barking, I've always wanted to go to a football match with dad but mum says I'd want to get on the pitch and join in.

Mum was excited on Monday because has now bought another grooming set. It was in it's own carrying case which said 'Crufts' on the lid. It contained:

  • Electric trimmer
  • Several cutting length combs
  • Motor oil
  • Blade cleaning brush
  • Metal scissors
  • Metal comb
  • Guilotine nail trimmers
  • Nail file
  • 2 sided grooming brush
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrush
  • Rubber finger toothbrush

Mum said it was a bargain. She also bought a very small hand held trimmer that ran on batteries which she said would be ideal. She said she could trim around our faces and paws with this and it would be much easier and less chance of cutting us.

MUM IT'S A BIT LATE FOR THAT!

Things I love: Mummy, Daddy and Max of course. Having cuddles. Playing till I drop. Toys, balls and balloons. I just love balloons. Playing football. Mum says I could be professional! My cuddly duck. Food and treats. Walkies. People and MOST dogs. Snuggling up in bed with mum and dad at the weekend.

Things I hate: Huskies definately huskies. Water, rain and getting bathed. The stray dogs round the pond. The cats invading our garden. I hated snow but now I quite like it.

My favourite walks: All my walks are favourite walks ;-) In the fields where I can go off my lead. Seaside and the beach especially off my lead. When can we go to the seaside again?

Other pets who share my home: Max, Salt and Pepper Miniature Schnauzer.

My favourite saying: Yabba dabba doo! When can we go to the seaside again? Biscuit. Dinner. Walkies.
