The week before Christmas mum grooming and trimmed us again but left our bath till, yes you've guessed it, Christmas eve! She said we had to be clean and smell good for the family visits. Sunday 21 December all dad's family came round. There were lots of people, food and drinks. And we went and sat on the stairs because Max was told off for begging for (and nearly helping himself) to food. Everyon fussed us and said what good boys we'd been. I hope mum and dad remember this for future reference. We stayed up till after midnight to open our presents under the tree. We had several to open each. Some were chews, some toys and Max got a new collar.
I can't understand why mum and dad laugh at me when I sit like this.
Christmas day we went to my mum's family's house and spent all day there. Were played with our nephews until it was dinner time and we got a lovely big helping of Christmas dinner before we went for a walk.
We've loved our walks together this holiday, especially when mum and dad took us to the coast. I wasn't amused to start with because they took us in the car and drove a long way until we finally came to a place called Robin Hoods Bay.
We hadn't been to this beach before but because there wasn't a road nearby, we were allowed off our leads as long as we behaved ourselves with other dogs. Behave ourselves? We'd no sooner got there when MUM fell in the water! She was soaked! Max ran around laughing and I was just glad she hadn't carried me across that rock pool! Dad tried to hide he was laughing but not very convincingly. Even the lady walking behind us had to turn round and hold her hand to her mouth. We had a great day though. Can't wait to go again
At the weekend mum took us round our old haunts for a walk. We bumped into some nice dogs and had a romp while they chatted. Then we met a schnauzer and westie in the woods, we walked together like old pals in a pack. Everyone seemed so content. Then we met a fox terrier who growled at me, everyone backed me up and barked back. His owner laughed and said, 'I think you're outnumbered, this way, let's go'. Then our aunty came round for the day because dad had gone with our nephews and their dad to 'an away game'. We all went for another walk later and aunty wants to give us treats all the time which mum disagrees with. Aunty fell into a post on the porch which dad had to fix the next day. We thought she was trying to demolish the house!
New years day mum's family came round to us and we repeated the whole playing and eating process again. We have duck, pork and beef. We love duck, we've even tried to catch it for mum to cook. They fly off before we can catch them though.
Then we had snow! I don't like it! It makes my paws sore and I refuse to walk. Mum and dad have had to take turns in carrying me, which I don't think they are pleased about. They have been very good to me though, they've soaked my paws, rubbed them in cream and put sticky, oily stuff on before I go out to ease them. You should hear me groan with approval.
This was a very frosty morning and we had to wear our coats. We even were chased by cows that ran through the fields and straight through a fence.
