April 2010
10 – 18 April 2010
We’ve been looking forward to this week because dad was off work ALL WEEK and mum was having a long weekend with us too. Dad was busy round the house but it meant we could help him and be able to play in the garden through the day, especially as the weather was dry most of the time.
We managed to have some varied walks and meet quite a few friends, old and new. Thursday was the best day though because we went to a place called Filey at the seaside. We had a long drive in the car, when dad stopped the car, we got very excited because we could smell the sea and because we both needed to go to the toilet.
As soon as we got on the beach what did we see but THREE schnauzers, two pepper and salt (girls) and one black (boy). They weren’t as big as us but they were friendly and wanted to play. We kept running round together and bumping each other then we’d stop for a rest. After a while I heard dad mention I liked a run… so I proved it. I nudged George to tell him and we raced down to the sea, we stood and chatted about the girls then we raced back as fast as we could. George trailed behind as usual hee hee.
Then we walked the full length of the beach meeting the occasional dog and eventually came to some rocks. I saw a family having a picnic and thought they wouldn’t mind me joining them. One of the boys threw a biscuit to me, which I thought was nice but mum and dad apologised and told me off. Hey, I wasn’t going to refuse was I? We continued along the rocks till will couldn’t go any further and then we turned back.
On the way back I was exploring, when mum called me back and kept shouting my name because she said I was going to hurt myself as I was too high. The previous family passed us and the woman said ‘they call that dog Max’. The boy said ‘that dog stole my biscuit’. But he gave me it… he did!... I think he must have forgot.
Later George saw a man with a football and began to run towards him. Mum and dad said ‘leave’ and he cheekily sidestepped it and laughed. Well I wanted him to have a play because he loves footballs, so the next one I saw, I ran to it and showed him so he would play. Well mum and dad can be stern because they told him off too. Even the man said he only wanted to play and said he couldn’t even pick it up because it was bigger than him. Ah ahh… they don’t know George, he’s got a big mouth and sharp teeth. He picked it up and ran in circles, the man did look surprised but mum took it off him and gave it back. I’m beginning to think mum and dad are boring.
Anyway we walked, we ran, we ate, we played, we explored until we couldn’t walk anymore. We were wacked! When we got back to the car, we slept all the way home. Mind you, we were ready for dinner I can tell you.
