Built in 1719 The Castle Hotel has offered great value accommodation, food and beer in the small beautiful market town of Bishops Castle for over 300 years.
Situated on top of the hill where the castle once stood to defend against the marauding Welsh, The Castle Hotel overlooks the delightful town of Bishops Castle with its two real ale breweries (one of which is the oldest licensed brewery in the country), wonderful independent shops and of course the stunning rolling Shropshire Hills countryside; a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, perfect for dog walking!
Pets stay free of charge at The Castle Hotel and can accompany you in all of our bedrooms, public areas and bars. Dogs are more than welcome to join you in our bar area and gardens for meals times throughout the day in which we serve modern honest British pub food that is hearty, flavoursome, fresh and sourced as much as possible from wonderful local suppliers in Shropshire and mid-Wales.
The Castle Hotel is conveniently located between two very popular medieval market towns of Ludlow & Shrewsbury, situated right on the Welsh border, with dog friendly walking trails such as The Kerry Ridgeway, Offa’s Dyke and The Shropshire Way all starting from the hotel front door. The long Mynd, The Stiperstones & The Welsh hills are all within a short car journey. Plus, there are many local National Trust properties within 30 minutes’ drive including Cardingmill Valley, Powys Castle & Attingham Park all of which are Dog Friendly.
