One of the things that we have been asked several over the past few months is - Can we allow dogs in to our cafe & pub? It is, apparently, quite difficult to find out the laws regarding this. We have made a few enquiries and you can read more about this below. At one time if you wanted to go away then you had no option but to put your dog in kennels. Now though, there are several different options to choose from. We asked Pet & Property Sitters, who not only look after your dog while you are away, but your home too, to tell us a bit about the way they work. Jan Wilmot, from the Barkery, took a trip to Orlando, Florida to visit the world's largest pet trade show. You can read about the weird and the wacky American ideas that will probably not be making an appearance 'over here', and also about a few ideas that might just make to the UK! You can find out who were the winners of the March eNewsletter 'Canny Collars' competition and also take a look at the winners of the Helsbury Park photo competition. |

However, it certainly doesn't appear to be very easy to find out the rules& regulations... read more... |
To find out about the latest products and trends, we at the Barkery, visited the world's largest pet trade show in Orlando, Florida. Wild and wacky products that may not make it to the UK but none the less caught our eye include: a self flushing cat litter tray, which is actually plumbed in! On the face of it a great idea but knowing our felines they would probably still prefer the corner behind the sofa. For dogs there is a company that makes biscuits that look like vegetables. Unlike the real thing they have wheat, salt, colours and preservatives. Our vote is with the real thing, not only much better for us but also a lot cheaper! Dedicated followers of fashion may be impressed by the sheer array of doggie outfits, from tutus to biker jackets, and rainbow foil effect coats that can even be made big enough for a horse. Ranges of designer or spa toiletries for dogs also appear to be growing at a rate of knots, although I’m sure that given the choice most dogs would choose to smell like dogs rather than sweets or flowers, I know mine head straight out for a good roll after a visit to the groomers. Accessories come in all shapes and sizes, from... read more... |
