Dog Days Out

Spread the Word!

Travelodge have announced a trial of their new Luxury Beds for Traveller's Pets. If you plan on visiting a Travelodge in Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham or Nottingham, and will be taking your dog along, don't forget to ask for a bespoke pet bed.

TV vet, Joe Inglis, has now turned his attention to developing a revolutionary new range of wet foods. Our own Miniature Schnauzers, Cassie & Sammie, bravely volunteered to try out this new steamed dog food and have awarded it top marks.

And then, when they've finished eating what happens? ...you passed a poo bin 10 minutes ago and you've still got 2 miles to go so now you've got that smelly little package to carry around for the next 40 minutes. But here's your chance to solve that smelly problem - WIN a muksak!

A new film - Firehouse Dog - is released on 20th July.

Travelodge Designs Luxury Bed for Travellers' Pets!
Image of Travelodge pet bed

Results from a survey conducted among 1000 people by Travelodge identified that almost two-thirds of respondents (61%) admitted they hate leaving their pets behind when they are away from home.

To respond to this demand, Travelodge has customised a replica of their luxury king size bed to accommodate its customers’ pets.

The bespoke pet bed is 2’ 6’’ long and 2’ wide and comes complete with mattress, pillow and duvet in Travelodge colours.  Pet beds will be trialled in Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham and Nottingham hotels..

...Dr Roger Mugford, Animal Behaviour Psychologist said: “Pets hate to be left home-alone and for people living a hectic lifestyle it’s a huge concern. It can be expensive and stressful trying to find someone to care for your pet whilst you are away.

“Hotels need to appreciate people think of pets as a family member and adopt a pet friendly policy that complements today’s consumer lifestyle. The Travelodge pet bed is a great example of how hotels can cater for pets. This initiative will ensure both pet and owner get a good night sleep whilst away from home”.

A devoted 29 per cent of people said they usually have to search high and low for a hotel that will accommodate pets. Around 44 per cent of respondents said they would take their pets away more often, if more UK hotels offered a pet bed service. Nearly two million (28%) dog owners take their dog away... ...when staying away from home. Read the full article - including 'Top Tips when taking your pet away with you' - here!

Joe & Jack's new steam-fresh wet dog food.

TV vet Joe Inglis is as passionate about pet food as he is about pets, and combines his veterinary and culinary skills to cook up healthy home-cooked meals for patients at his Oxfordshire surgery. And last year, with the help of new all natural pet food company, Pets’ Kitchen, he used these recipes to create his own range of top quality natural dog and cat foods called Joe & Jack’s and Joe & Jill’s (in honour of his faithful collie cross Jack and tabby cat Jill!).

With Joe & Jack’s and Joe & Jill’s dried foods flying off the shelves of Waitrose and
Sainsbury’s, Joe’s now turned his attention to developing a revolutionary new range of wet foods.

‘I’ve always believed that our pets deserve the very best foods,’ says Joe, ‘and by using a new steam cooking process I’ve managed to create wet foods which are as close as possible to my original home-cooked recipes.’

Turning home-cooked recipes into natural wet foods required not just Joe’s expertise, but also that of the Pets’ Kitchen production kitchen team in Devon. read more...

Is your dog over-sexed? Does he mount everything in sight – the cat, next door’s Chihuahua, your legs? If so he needs CSJ’s new ‘Down Boy!’ herbal supplement, then everyone can relax.

From constant contact with dog owners CSJ realised that ‘inappropriate mounting’ is a real problem with many dogs, so they consulted with their herbalist and came up with the solution...

Down Boy! is the latest addition to the herbal range and NATURALLY suppresses the sexual drive in male dogs. The mix is a comforting blend of Scullcap, Chamomile, Hops, Passion Flower and Lemon Balm – so no nasty jabs or chemicals needed to soothe your

‘Casanova’ and it’s just sprinkled over food.

Small dogs only need half a scoop (the scoop’s included), small to medium dogs a level scoop and medium to large dogs one to two scoops daily, so each tub lasts ages, and you’ll see the benefits within two to three weeks after starting to use.

Greyhound Rescue!

I have worked with dogs for most of my adult life, both in canine behaviour and in my capacity as a pet sitter. During that time many breeds have passed through my hands.

I currently walk two ex -racing Greyhounds. A male called Nero, and a female called Lisa. I recall fondly our first meeting when Nero gazed up at me with absolute trust, and the sweetness of Lisa once she had learned to trust me. It never ceases to amaze me whenever we venture out for our daily walk, how I get asked the same basic questions. “Are they vicious because they wear muzzles?” “I expect they need loads of exercise”? “I couldn’t have one because I have a cat”!

Let me assure you that Greyhounds make WONDERFUL pets. They are loyal, intelligent, affectionate and so laid back! Contrary to popular belief, with care, they can also live quite happily with cats. read more...

Firehouse Dog released in UK Cinemas on 20th July 2007

Rex, Hollywood's top-grossing canine, is known for his extreme athletic abilities and diva-like demeanor. His perks package, rivaling that of any A-list celebrity, includes Kobe beef, a poodle harem, and a diamond collar.

Rex’s luck – and Hollywood high life – runs out while shooting a commercial; an aerial stunt goes awry, leading Rex’s handlers to presume he’s dead. But Rex is merely lost – alone, filthy and unrecognizable in an unfamiliar city. Chased by animal control, he takes refuge in grubby abandoned lofts, a far cry from his former luxurious lifestyle.

Shane Fahey (Josh Hutcherson), a bright but rebellious 12-year-old, has exasperated his father Connor (Bruce Greenwood) for the umpteenth time. A single parent and captain of the rundown inner city fire station known as Dogpatch, Connor is charged with inspiring the sad-sack company: The team is still coping with the recent loss of their former captain, Connor’s brother. Shane is also troubled by his uncle’s death, and he’s been acting out by ditching school. read more...
