Number 62 - Self Catering ...2 adults and up to 6 dogs have been the limit so far. As dog owners ourselves I think that we are as dog friendly as we can be. My biggest concern for dogs is that they are left in hot cars, so I tell people that they can leave their dogs in the accommodation on hot days, as I feel that this is such a worry for dog owners. So far we haven't had any damage done by lonely dogs, or had any complaints from the neighbours about excessive barking, and I just wish that more accommodation providers gave a little thought to well behaved dogs welfare. As for people to doggy ratio; if you can cope with walking them - bring them. ______________________________________ |

The Silverdale - Guest House ...we don't have a "doggy" limit. We have had five small dogs in a room, two big dogs, all shapes, colours, sizes they are all welcome here. The only limit is the amount of space in the bedroom. We would rather limit the people than the dogs! We have treats waiting for your dog in the room, dog bowls, a grotty towel so that you won’t be afraid of drying him off after a long walk and we even supply a dog tag to put on his collar just in case he wanders off! ______________________________________ |

Breahead B&B - Opening June '07 Breahead B&B is situated on the edge of the Grampian Mountains and has “great dog walks in the Angus Glens” and also on the east coast “beaches which have miles of golden sands and even in the middle of summer are only frequented by doggie people”. We don't intend to limit the number of dogs per room - numbers will depend on size and breed of dog. We have to be realistic and, where as we may take 4 `Westies' for example, we couldn't take 4 St Bernards (the rooms really just aren't big enough!) In time we aim to build day kennels so that people can leave their dogs safely if they wish to go somewhere where dogs aren't welcome. ______________________________________ |

Midtown Cottages - Self Catering Firstly, the size of our cottages. They are not tiny but neither are they huge. They will accommodate four adults comfortably but if you then start adding large dogs, there's a distinct possibility you'd be under each others' feet! As an example, Jane & I have at times had three fully grown Golden Retrievers. We may, of course, like more space than you but we think that that is a nice balance and that adding more people or dogs would start to make it feel crowded. So perhaps four adults with a couple of small dogs or just two adults with three, perhaps four large dogs would be sensible. Other combinations are, of course, possible and as regards crowding, we're likely to leave the decision to you. ______________________________________ |

A new Dog Friendly Cafe has recently opened it's doors in Whitby. Beckett's of Whitby shows just how dog friendly a cafe can be. After a walk along that lovely Whitby beach both you, and your dog, can take the weight off your paws and, while you enjoy a home made cake and a cuppa, your dog can take a snooze. And, as owner Julie Currie, has taken advantage of a Dog Friendly Britain webpage, there'll be no problem with not being able to find her cafe as all you have to do is take a look at the webpage and you'll know exactly what you're looking for! |
