Dog Care
Keeping your dog happy and well requires you understand his needs. Dog care is not just about the obvious health issues, so think about his need for companionship from people or other dogs and simple things like a comfortable warm bed and regular exercise.
Make sure your dog eats a balanced diet and has plenty of fresh water. Clean his teeth every day, and ask your vet to check them regularly. And if you want to give your dog a treat, make sure it's one that's specially made for them, as some human foods may make your dog ill. Remember, above all, to avoid feeding chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions etc which, amongst other things, can be extremely harmful to dogs.
Dog health problems
How is your pet? A healthy dog will have bright eyes and a wet nose and will be full of energy. If a dog health problem is present, she may appear listless or unhappy. If this is the case, look for more specific symptoms, such as excessive scratching, abnormal stools or vomiting.
If you're suspicious that your pet may have a dog health problem, then you should take them immediately to a vet.
Dog health care
A trip to the vet could cost you many hundreds of pounds if treatment is recommended. Over the life of your dog, the costs could easily mount into thousands of pounds. Therefore, we'd recommend you consider an insurance policy as the core of your dog health care.
For just a few pounds a month, you'll never have to think twice about having your dog treated when he or she is ill.
There's so much here on Dog Friendly Britain that can help you with caring for your pet.
