West Somerset Railway, Mnehead

The West Somerset Railway recognises that dogs are an important part of family life for many people and that they do not wish their pet(s) to miss out on a day trip to the seaside or into the beautiful Somerset countryside.

The West Somerset Railway welcomes dogs on our trains. We charge a flat rate of £2 for them but if you buy your tickets at the booking offices a special ticket is issued cunningly marked "Dog" so that the four-legged members of the outing know they are not being left out.

We ask that dogs do not travel on seats and must be seated on the carriage floor and that they do not go into the buffet car. We also hope that they bring well-behaved owners!

We are unable to accept dogs on our catering specials.

From here the train runs non-stop through the Padarn Country Park, joining the 1845 slate railway route to run along the shores of Lake Padarn to Penllyn, and giving stunning views of Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales.
